We went in search of the roots of Easter traditions in Italy that still today manifest in food as well as cultural and religious events. \nWith the American TV troupe we went out filming in off-the-beaten path towns. Cantiano (Marche)  is one that we particularly loved and enjoyed filming with Rick Steves: the people of Cantiano are all  still in our hearts. What made the visit unforgettable was that in Cantiano the whole town participates in an open air public performance of the passion of Christ. \nOur Guest: Roberto Bechi\, one-of-a-kind tour guide and owner of a small farm that produces wine\, olive oil and pasta\, will share some thoughts with us on why he chose some of the places filmed by Rick Steve’s Easter in Europe and on the significance of Easter in Italy. \nWe want to hear from you! if you have a special Easter recipe (Italian or not) that has meant something for you or your family be prepared to talk about it! It’s what we dream about for the whole year. It’s what we sing for\, what we suffer and cry for. There is nothing else in the world that can give us the same joy!» \nThe Palio in Siena is much more than a horse race\, it is sense of community\, solidarity\, identity\, tradition\, life. It is a world-unique tradition that embraces the daily life of the Sieneses. \nThis year\, due to the global pandemic\, both the July 2nd and August 16th 2020 Palios will not take place. The last time this happened was during World War I (1915-1918) and World War II (1940-1944). However the Palio\, which finds its roots in the XIII century\, is today stronger than ever. \nWe will meet Gene\, a member of the Torre (Tower) Contrada . Gene is originally from Calabria (Southern Italy) but has become a very active and passionate Contrada member.
