Meet Sergio Dondoli, award winning gelato-maker from San Gimignano! We will (virtually) visit him in his laboratory where he will tell us how he makes gelato, explain the difference between gelato and ice-cream, and (WOW!) show us LIVE how to make “Vinsanto Eggnog”, his exclusive specialty made with creamy Sabayon and a 13-year-aged Vin Santo Wine, a sweet made in Tuscany delight!
San Gimignano Town is a true jewel, a fact recognized by UNESCO which has declared it a World Heritage site. It is renowned for its medieval towers which still dominate the skyline, leading to its amusing modern day nickname of “The Medieval Manhattan.”
Today, when we think of San Gimignano we also think of Sergio’s gelato. His creations have become famous worldwide: Crema di Santa Fina® (cream with saffron and pine nuts), Champelmo® (pink grapefruit and sparkling wine), Dolceamaro® (cream with aromatic herbs), and Vernaccia Sorbet.
