Venice today is an iconic city with its Basilica di San Marco, gondolas, the Doge’s Palace, and Carnival, just to mention a few Venetian must sees. Yet Venice has many hidden treasures all waiting to be discovered.
Join us for some inside information on Venetian lifestyle!
We will meet Marisa Convento also known as the “master of impiraresse” (glass bead-stringers), as she still practices this ancient profession which was widespread amongst Venetian women up to the first half of the 20th century. She creates incredible jewellery, embroideries, corals using Venetian glass beads and rare vintage seed beads.
She profoundly loves Venice.

We will meet Matteo Turato, Wine Ambassador for Venissa, an Estate on Mazzorbo Island in the Venetian lagoon, an archipelago of nature, colours, and art that also includes the Islands of Burano and Torcello. Here the Bisol family started cultivating the Dorona di Venezia, a native grape variety cultivated for centuries until almost becoming extinct after the great flood of 1966.
Today, according to wine enthusiasts, they make one of the most sought-after white wines in the world with notes of salinity that recall the lagoon. In 2016, the popular American wine website VinePair named it the best white wine in the world. The property also has a Michelin Star Restaurant led by young and award-winning chefs, rooms, a contemporary osteria, and three vegetable gardens used both by the chefs and local inhabitants.
